As a parent, I have often enjoyed the different stages my children have been at. If I think back, I cannot recall how many times I have said, "This is my favourite age".
I remember when my children were babies. I loved that stage. I loved holding them and feeding them.
As they grew and were no longer in diapers and could eat 'people' food, I loved this new increase in freedom. Less supplies to cart around. No need for diapers or formula. I enjoyed the increased mobility when they could start walking.
As the ability to form words developed so did the enjoyable interaction. The funny stories of immature insight. It's still fun to recall some of the things that would 'come out of the mouth of a babe'.
When Brittany was tall enough to ride most of the rides at Wonderland, we were excited that all of our children could now experience this fun event together. No one to be left out.
Along with increased independence, we found new things that we could enjoy with our children. Conversations could become more intellectual and deeper.

My Favourite Age
When Brittany and I were in Toronto recently swimming in a pool, these 'favourite age' thoughts came to mind again. We were having so much fun together. I also have had these thoughts recently with Jonathan and Sarah. I love that Mark and Jonathan have new 'manly' things in common. Sarah and I can have 'adult' conversations. It's all quite exciting. Sometimes I'll reflect on earlier years and how I thoroughly enjoyed the ages my children were, at those times.
This got me to thinking....What is our Heavenly Father's favourite 'age' for us, his children?
Is it when we are first 'born'? When we first meet Him? When we are so hungry and we need to be fed our baby food all the time?
Is it when we start to take our first steps? When we begin to eat solid food?
Is it when we begin to move from baby food to real 'meat & potatoes'?
Is it when we develop our words and begin conversing with Him?
Is it when we realize that we are not so independent and that we cannot do anything without our Father?

Kevin LOVED the baby stage and still does. For years after a baby dedication he'd come home and say..."Just one more please?!?!" (one more would have been wonderful...oh, well, down the road we'll be at the grandparent stage.)
I preferred when they began talking. Ryan's speech was so advanced. They all said the cutiest things.
As parents we both agree that the teen years are Our Favorite. Everyone is busy with their own schedule BUT when we are together for a meal it's so much fun! We have laughter and some very deep conversations....and of course some not so deep conversations. I treasure our moments together knowing that Ryan's time for leaving the nest is quickly coming.
You asked what stage our Heavenly Father would love best and I believe He loves them all BUT the best is yet to come. I think He is anticipating MOST the day we become the "bride" of His Son - I think this will be His Very Favorite!!!!
Great thoughts Rhonda, lots to ponder on............ Thanks for opening up my mind.
I am like you Rhonda, I have looked at every stage as my favorite. With our spread in ages, we are still in most of them. My most pleasant surprise though has been the teens. I had some very scary ideas of teens growing up....I didn't even want to be one when I was little....now I think I still AM one!
My mom used to say, the teens were her favorite...I used to think she was crazy. Now I understand....though I really do love every age.
I think I wanted to stop time at about three though. They are just such funny little people then. Their personalities have developed, but still enough immaturity to make you laugh all the time.
GREAT INSIGHT I THINK THAT THE TEEN YEARS HAS BEEN MY FAVORITE. THE LITTLE KID AGE WASN'T MY CUP OF TEA OR FORMULA YOU MIGHT SAY.
I LOOK FORWARD TO BEING A GRANDPARENT SOMEDAY, THAT'S WHEN I WILL ENJOY THE LITTLE GUY STAGE. THEN I WILL BE ABLE TO HAVE LOTS OF FUN SPOILING THEM, AND THEN SENDING THEM HOME TO DRIVE THEIR PARENTS CRAZY:-)
KEEP UP THE GREAT WRITTING.
So far, I have enjoyed every age...although Isaiah's age is so much fun to me...I absolutely love to see them going from babies to little people...Time will tell about my feelings on teenhood...
(I feel an AHHHHH coming on..)
I totally completly ADORED the 0-18 months age!! But it is neat to see the kid's growing and I love having a 10 and a 12 year old. I think they are great kid's!!
I have enjoyed every stage with my kids - each stage is special and has wonderful memories. Don't be in a hurry for the next one, enjoy where they are. Savor the moment - tomorrow comes quickly. Now I am enjoying watching the cycle continue with my grandkids. :o)
When do we stop being a parent? Never. We will always be watching over our children no matter which stage they are in.
I am sure our Heavenly Father feels the same way as He watches us grow and mature. I wonder if He shows us off like we do with our children. :o)
