This is the phone that we have on the wall in our kitchen. I received it free when I worked for the phone company. It's a great phone and does all sorts of things.
It has an online telephone directory; it holds 50 numbers of my closest friends, will connect me to a three-way conversation, display names & numbers of incoming callers, will light up when an extension is in use and the indicator light will flash when there is a message waiting.
This white phone is the one that is in our master bedroom. It is a little bit of an upgrade from the black one. This phone will hold 100 numbers of my closest friends!
The thing that I don't like about my phones is this: my phones will flash to let me know I have a message waiting.
Why is that a problem you ask? It really isn't a problem in and of itself. The flashing indicator to let me know I have a message is a very useful tool.
What my personal frustration is that my phone will allow someone to send me a message without calling me. I could be sitting beside my phone, as I am right now, and out of the blue it will start flashing. It draws my attention. I look at it. I'm confused. I'm wondering how I missed the call. Was I downstairs in the laundry room? Was I in the bathroom? Was I outside? No, no, no. I was sitting right here.
Now, I shouldn't get too upset with my phone. It really didn't have a choice in the matter. It is only doing what it is supposed to. If a caller has purposely sent me a voicemail without calling me directly, then my phone can only respond the way it was programmed. It will not ring, it will only flash, to let me know I have a message.
Usually the message sender is asking me to call them back, which confuses me, because I'm sitting right here and could have easily answered the phone. Now, instead, I must dial into my messaging service to retrieve the voicemail that was sent.
If you didn't already know that you could send messages from your home voicemail service to a friend's voicemail; please don't try it out on me. (Just kidding!)

That's so unusual. I've never heard of that before. I can understand how that would be a pet peeve.
My pet peeve is people who wait for the beep to leave a message and then hang up.
You have 3 messages Click Click Click
Hellooooo People hang up before hand.
Maybe i will change my message to
Hi you've reached the Gilbeys we are not available to take your call if don't want to leave a message hang up before the beep or I will hunt you down and .....

Mona - That would be another pet peeve of mine too...how many am I allowed to have?? Haha!
I think I better stick with the phones I have.
OK, you are a funny girl. I will admit, I have used this feature...(though I don't believe on you), it is great when you get a message too late to call someone, but need to get back to them, or are on the way out the door and can't talk, but need to answer a question or something.
I will remember to call you DIRECTLY, so as not to cause you any frustration though....how late is too late at your house?????
We don't have a land line at all right now...we use our cell phones, which is great sometimes and not-so-great sometimes!
I really enjoyed your blog--what a cute couple you are!
Speaking of voice mail, I had a weird one yesterday. Not to sure who left it.
I finally posted pictures of the wedding!!!!!!
I have never heard of being able to do this and am not sure why people would want to. If I am calling you I must have sometime I need to chatt with you about right?
I guess you learn a new thing everyday:)
