Do you have a childhood memory of a favorite toy?
One of my favorite toys was my Baby Tender Love. I searched on the internet and found a picture. Instantly, memories came rushing back of how special this doll was to me.
My sister and I also shared the Velvet, Crissy and Cinnamon dolls. These dolls had hair that you could make longer and shorter.
And I can't forget Mrs. Beasley. If you remember the television show Family Affair, then you'll remember Mrs. Beasley.
My other favorites were my Barbies and my Easy Bake Oven. What were your favorite childhood toys?

My Barbies and my absolute favourite,
Raggedy Ann.
EEk! I had SO many toys I cherished and had to take EVERYWHERE I went, I had a suitcase for a purse at a very young age (and I have not changed!).
To name a few, I had Gymnastics Barbie, that was extremely bendy, and I still have my Cabbage-Patch doll named Victoria packed away.
Ok.. here I go, no shame, no shame Jenna....
I have a blankie. I have had it all my life, and it has gotten a little bit smaller with each few years. Last year I actually cut it in half, to make squares for a quilt I made Ry for Christmas. This made me tear up.. alot.
Ok.. well, I still have this blankie, which is now half blankie, half crib sheets (my mom did alot of mending with this thing). And.. well, it is under my pillow right now.
YES... in my grown-up looking, married womans bed, YES it is.
It's for the puppy... aand maybe me a little.
Oh my! I had all three of these dolls! I had not thought of them in years! Mrs. Beasley was my favorite!
Wow...I had Beautiful Crissy, Baby Tenderlove and the Easy Bake Oven too!
Rhanda,
I came to your blog via "Praise and Coffee".
Yes, I had those dolls! Memories!
I remember Mrs Beasley from the show Family Affair. Do you remember that show?
Miriam
Well ladies I had none of these dolls but my friends did.
My first covet hahaha
Rhonda my girlfriend still has Crissy and Velvet in the packages.
I had the barbies without bendable legs unlike my friends another covetting moment, however I had the game Plug O Jug my favourite game and walkie talkies and lest we forget Yahoo Buckaroo,Hang on Harvey,Rockem Sockem Robots, and be very careful Don't Cook your Goose Operation and Look out sister here comes jack you got TROUBLE you go back. Yes sad but true I remember the jingles. Thanks for the walk down memory lane.
Oh!
I had Chrissy and forgot about her, I could just feel the hair as you made it longer, when I saw the picture.
I had a Mrs. Beasley as well...
I really wanted a Baby Alive, but didn't have her, so when she came back 2 or 3 years ago, I picked up 2 for my girls and had them tucked away for months.
My kids also have Buck A Roo that Mona mentioned, I LOVED that game.
I also love that all that was old is new again and I get to relive it all through my kids!
Thanks for the memory reminders!
Oh Rhonda ... I had the Crissy doll, too. But, I CUT HER HAIR! Knowing my background you know how absolutely devastating this was for my mom!!
Growing up in a family that didn't have much money - each toy was treasured in their own way. The most cherished toys had to be Baby Alive -which as bought by my Nana for one of my Birthdays. I also cherish my Raggedy Ann doll which was never allowed to come home - it remained always at Nana's house. She was able to keep it for many years without letting anyone else play with it. When she passed away I was able to bring it home and it is still proudly displayed in my home today!
We didn't get much for Christmas growing up...mom wasn't into gift giving. But I did get an Easy bake and loved it as well as a Strawberry shortcake doll. What I REALLY wanted was a Cabbage Patch Doll (but I didn't get one). I was hoping Tirzah would want one but she has never liked them (no excuse to buy one)! lol

To be honest, I was never into dolls. I was forever the tomboy who asked for footballs and dirtbikes for Christmas! LOL!
My favorite "toys" growing up were my books. I received the complete Little House on the Prairie set one Christmas, and as my mom was an elementary school teacher, we had our own library at home. I have been reading myself to sleep since I was about 7.

I remember these dolls... but didn't personally have them. I had my real live baby cousins to cart around.
I did have barbies which provided hours of entertainment. However with a younger bother and sister they got somewhat abused. It's okay - Roxanne I FORGIVE you for painting their faces with nail polish. My brother, Darin, well he stuck a knitting needle and poked holes in my favorite barbie.
Yikes perhaps I need to go for therapy! LOL
I had the velvet doll and until I just saw this blog I'd forgotten all about it. We didn't get a ton of gifts like a lot of kids seem to now a days and I remember I so cherished that doll! Great memories! Thanks for the memory!
Had the baby tender love until about 10 years ago... kept it as a memory.... poor thing had nasty hair in the end and a ton on needle pics from my childhood days dreaming of being a nurse... also had the crissy doll... loved em both.
yes I also had the first two. My barbies were my favourite for sure. I would play with them for hours. I pretended to be a hairdresser though and cut off their hair. OOPS!!!!! Oh the memories.
Baby Thumbalina was it for me, I still have her! Oh, and I still have issues with the Easy Bake Oven, My parents wouldn't get it for me! They said I could use the oven we already had. The point of the easy bake was you could go to your room, bake a cake (with a light bulb) and eat it all yourself!!!!
xoxo

P.S. that was a fun post
I thought I was the only one that still had her Baby Tender Love, I have the smaller one, too. Did anyone have the Honeybunch dolls, small fabric dolls with a club house, I regret giving them away. The easy bake oven, oohhh, those were the best, cakes, you didn't even have to ask, for dessert, you just went to your room to play and came back with cake for everyone, even if the slice was only one or two bites. As I got older, Merlin, the battery operated hand held game was also one of my favorites.(the 70's version of a DS)
I thought one day I would let my daughter play with Baby Tender Love...alas, I had 4 boys. BUT! as much as they would hate for me to tell, they played with the doll. (even tried to potty train her)
No surprise when my grand-daughter gets dotted on. And yes, she plays with Beth (aka) BTL
