I am very impressed!!
Yesterday a new superstore opened in our little city. Lowes has just moved in!
Considering they're not attached to the mall and don't sell clothing (that I'm aware of) I did not rush on over for their Grand Opening. I'm sure that I will get there eventually since my husband is a big Jimmie Johnson fan and Lowes is Jimmie's sponsor.
Tonight, around 5:30pm, we had a knock on our door. A representative from Lowes, wearing a Santa hat, handed us a poinsettia plant and said "MERRY CHRISTMAS from Lowes!"
Lowes has certainly won me over. They have taken the time to connect with me personally.
I hope that their marketing manager gets a big bonus this year!

This is just my opinion. I think Lowe's is more user friendly for women where Home Depot is better for the guys. Let me know what you think. I agree, that was a very nice gesture to hand deliver a poinsetta.
Hugs!

After my harried and somewhat disillusioning day of shopping on Sat, we were greeted with a poinsettia and a "MERRY CHRISTMAS" as well.
This touched us on a number of levels. The first being that I had looked at purchasing a poinsettia or 2 for myself, but always found something more pressing to put the money towards, then to have God use a retail giant to grant my unspoken request...I was touched. We loved that they were so personal and that they actually wished us a "Merry Christmas".
We have to finish our bathroom reno in the new year, and they will be the first place I head to.
They actually open on the 16'th...I went up yesterday, to speak to a manager and personally thank them for this gesture, but they are not open yet.
I know it's marketing, but we were impressed that we, the working middle class, were actually being given something at Christmas. If they keep up the personal service, I will be a customer for good!
Ummm....
Please don't forget about your LOCALLY OWNED home improvement stores, that don't necessarily have the 'financial backing' for marketing as some big box stores have.
We may have less variety, but we CERTAINLY have wonderful customer service and will help out as much as we are capable of.
The opening of Lowes is not as wonderful to everyone.
Wow! Talk about a personal touch...

Wow...pretty impressive. Enjoy your plant.
Quite a marketing plan.... you get a woman... you've got the business! LOL!
Yah, we didn't get a poinsettia. But our neighbor is the manager from Rona so we have been getting all our things from him. Also you get air miles too!!!!
Don't forget the small locally own guys, even though their(Loew's) marketing is great.
