History in the Making

I was able to watch the Inauguration today, while I was at work. I watched at my desk on the CNN live feed. The people I work with felt it was an important event to see. (My co-workers were a little more awestruck with America's choice than I was; but I still appreciated the opportunity to view 'history in the making'.)

It was certainly an incredible occasion to witness. Seeing all of the Past Presidents and dignitaries as they entered in preparation of the swearing-in ceremony was inspiring.

As this new President begins his presidency, we need to come along side of him in prayer.

May we agree with Rick Warren's plea to God:

Give to our new president Barack Obama the wisdom to lead us with humility, the courage to lead us with integrity, the compassion to lead us with generosity. Bless and protect him, his family, Vice President Biden, the Cabinet, and every one of our freely elected leaders.

Whether or not Obama was yours or my choice for President does not matter. We are called to cover the government in prayer.

I must say that I was quite impressed that America's new President chose to say his presidential oath using Lincoln's bible.

I didn't watch it for many reasons, but I was going to ask what he placed his hand on....and then you told us!

I watched all day. It was definitely history in the making. Obama wasn't my choice, but I too think we need to be praying for him and give him the respect due him.

I was an amazing day yesterday!
