The high school that I work at has been presenting the musical, The Sound of Music. The play was being performed last weekend and this weekend. The cast has been receiving lots of well deserved praise. Last night, Mark, Sarah, Brittany & I went to see the performance. It made for a really nice evening out. It's so nice to support local theater, especially great talent at the school where I work and where my children attend.
Jonathan wasn't interested in seeing the play. He was out with his buddies. Tammy's son hosted a party while his parent's are in Mexico. Hope the house is still intact! (Just kidding - they are a great bunch of boys that anyone would be happy to have in their home.)
Today we all slept in. This was 'exam week' for the high school kids. I think everyone was worn out. When someone in the house is writing exams, we all get to suffer.
Mark and I spent most of our afternoon picking up groceries. Teenagers love food!! After we came home, I got some chili cooking in the crock pot. And then I baked. I love to bake. I made some brownies and some blueberry muffins. I wanted to try a different blueberry muffin recipe. So, I visited the Pioneer Woman's site and tried this one. They taste pretty good.
Brittany and I stopped by Starbucks today and we saw one of the young men that was in the high school play. She was pretty excited when she recognized him, so I took the opportunity to compliment him while she was with me. What fun!
After filling our bellies with yummy chili, fries and garlic bread we all curled up and watched a movie. Such a great way to spend an evening when it's extremely cold outside. For any of you that live in the deep south, I want you to know that this evening my temperature here is -9 F or -23 C. Yes, you read right. It's just stupid cold here! Man, am I ever thankful for my gas fireplace.

Sounds like a great weekend! I laughed at your temperatures...it's was about 47 here yesterday and we had a birthday party to attend. It was outside and we were all huddles around a propane heater and couldn't wait to get home to stoke the fire in the fireplace!
I guess it's all relative. You guys would probably be running around in shorts flip flops if you had 47 degree weather!

Yes supporting local theater is so important. Glad you enjoyed the play with your family! :)
Sounds like you have had a great weekend!
The production was so extremely well done...I was so glad I went.
When in Vermont with the Molenaar's we went to see the home of the VanTrapp family featured in the Sound of Music. Cheryl and I loved it.... while the guys were challenged to tolerate it. But our guys will do just about anything for love!! :)
Funny that you made chili... I kept thinking of chili all weekend.
Sounds like you had a great weekend.
We need to plan some girl time when Kev and Mark are in Uganda!
