Breakfast and a Bible

My husband is the Family Ministries Pastor at our church. One aspect of his job is to lead the children's ministries service for the 6-12 year olds. Our church has expanded to double services this past September. Wow - has it been that long? The families in our church love to be together. They always have. When the service ends, you won't find them rushing out the door. They will linger for as long as they can. Now that we have two services on Sunday morning, many of our families are coming to the second service. The number of children in the second service has been measurably larger than the first service.

My husband wanted to encourage more families to come to the first service. This is how we came up with Breakfast and a Bible. We are currently serving breakfast to the children in our class that come to the first service. Last week we gave them toaster waffles and pancakes. This week we had cereal and cinnamon raisin toast. We are filling their bellies and then filling their spirits. The kids really enjoy eating together. We set the tables before they come in and say grace together. It gives the children that are new to our church a chance to get to know some of the other kids. A greater intimacy is created when you share a meal together.

Thank you Lord for expanding our ideas to be 'outside of the box' as we serve for You.
