If Found Please Return

They still had the same address. The fact that they both slept in the same house each night had not changed. They ate food from the same cupboards. Sat at the same table. Both parked in the same driveway. They even attended the same church.

At times they could both be found at home at the same time. Even though all of these similarities should qualify these two people as living together, it had become more of a shared residence than a shared life. A mere passing without words. Any conversation that now did occur was no longer providing unlimited openness.

They had lived together for almost two decades. They knew each other deeply. There was a bond of love beyond any friendship and a special language that only the two of them could understand. They could share a look and without speaking would know what the other was thinking.

How did things change??

They did not have a disagreement or fight. There was no broken trust. Nobody cheated.

This story is about a parent and a child. The child grew up. Moved on? Not really. Just began spreading wings. Wings that were always there but never fully opened. The child was never held back, but chose to remain still. Now the child has taken a JUMP. A big jump.

And the parent waits. And prays. And prays some more. That the wings will not fail the child. And that the child will continue to return to the nest.

Rhonda,
I agonize at times over this phase of growing up....I am always praying, "Father, don't let them fly too far, without coming back for some home time".
I keep telling myself, "He loves them more than I even do".

Bless you

Oh Rhonda, how true are those words. With children turning into adults and you still the parent. IT's very hard to watch and not speak at times. WOW!!!!
OH How true!!!! On of these days they will fly and not return. Jesus, prepare me for that day!!!
