"Honey, she's on the phone!!!"
My husband was on his way out the door to pick up our son from work. The van was running and he was getting ready to hop in. I knew he wouldn't want to miss her call.
Our youngest daughter, our baby of the family, is away from home!!! Brittany is on a French trip to Quebec City for four days and three nights with her class from school. She is taking French Immersion; which means that she only speaks French while at school. Being in French Immersion instead of regular classes was her own idea. She wanted to learn a second language.
A trip to Quebec City is an anticipated adventure that is only available to the senior classes. We weren't expecting the trip to be offered to her until eighth grade (next year), however, it was offered this year. Next year will be something different.
I was unable to get the time off of work to volunteer as a parent chaperone. Mark & I have been leading Junior High and Youth at our church since our oldest started Junior High. Most events that our children have attended away from home have included Us. Or, at the very least we have known the leaders Very Well. Sending our daughter on a school trip (her school is not a Christian school) that did not include any chaperones, that we know, was a little challenging for us. And for Brittany.
Brittany identified some concerns yesterday as she was preparing for her departure this morning. She knew that their itinerary included seeing a movie (in French of course.) She didn't want to have to see something that perhaps we would not approve of. (Our daughter likes to be protected from viewing anything inappropriate for her; she's told us so.)
Her teacher informed her that he would be making the decision as to what movie would be appropriate for them to see. And he promised the students that it wouldn't be anything 'childish'. Unfortunately, knowing her teacher, this did not reassure my daughter. So, I gave my daughter some 'coping skills'. And we PRAYED!
Tonight while talking to our daughter she informed us that they had been taken to see Horton Hears a Who!!! She was thrilled. Most of the kids hadn't seen it before and she was able to translate for them as she had only just seen it a week ago.
Our daughter is not alone on her trip. Even though we cannot be with her, her Heavenly Father can look after her better than we could.

Rachelle went to Quebec City last year and Austen goes in a few weeks. Rachelle really enjoyed this school trip.
You'll be missing Brittany's beautiful smile for sure! She'll have a great time though. What a great pic of her.
When does my Prayer Buddie arrive home?
I have kept her in my prayers this week as she did say she was concerned and a little nervous.
Father is with her and she is with us in our prayers everyday.
I hope she is having fun. I can't wait to hear all about it.
I agree with Vicki that is a beautiful picture of Brittany.
Hang in there mom.
That is a neat experience for you daughter. I bet you will be very excited when she comes home.
That is so awesome! An added bonus- is that it's a really good movie. I took my girls last weekend and we all enjoyed it and I saw teenagers there and they enjoyed it also!
Miss Britt so far away....now I am sad....I dare not tell the littlest girl in my home.
I am feeling anxious about My Johnny Boy going off to Chicago...but am so glad they your Johnny will be with him...I told them at school last week that they had to stick together and look out for each other.
So much easier when they are little and their school trips are to the local conservation area....sigh.
I am sure Brittany will have many exciting stories to tell!
What an awesome experience. She will do just fine!!! Don't worry Mama Bear!!!! I know what it's like though.
blessings!!!!!
What a sweet post about your amazing daughter. From the sounds of things, you and your dh our doing an amazing job raising her.
It is so tough...letting go...yet isn't is great to know that our Heavenly Father will ALWAYS be with them!!
Have a blessed day and I'll be praying for Brittany.

Oh how you must all miss her!!!!!
I hope God prepares me for these things...I like keeping my babies CLOSE! But...they aren't really babies anymore, are they!?
What a wonderful opportunity for her! Glad to hear the movie situation worked out well...sounds like Brittany is growing in Christ!

I don't want to even think about it.
I'm interested in hearing (via blog!!!) all about it! I'd love to go to Quebec City--I hear it is beautiful.
You are so right that God loves our children more than we could every imagine. I to struggle with Kelly attending school trips even to the Frink Center.
What an awesome experience for your daughter! I know it can't be easy letting her go but you are right, she is not alone. The French immersion program sounds very cool, I wish I would have learned French. Too late now, I have enough trouble with English, lol.

That is a great testimony to the power of prayer! Thank you for sharing it.
I didn't know you worked too. I actually posted on my blog this morning about working mom's. If you have a chance stop by.
Have a great day!

What a blessing to have such a beautiful daughter on the inside and out...I am sure that you are all so very proud of her. She sounds like a very wise young lady.
You and I know that God will protect her in more ways than we could ever count...
Isn't God so awesome!?!?!
