Sarah's Prom Night

Sarah is my oldest child. She is graduating from grade twelve this year. Prom night was a night that Sarah had anticipated through most of high school.

Sarah and I went dress shopping in Toronto in February and stayed overnight at a hotel. A first for just the two of us. We had a wonderful time together. We created some lasting memories including me getting a $30 parking ticket in downtown Toronto. The price of the dress just went up. :)

Sarah began her day with a manicure and pedicure by Tammy (one of our Pastor's wives). This was her first pedicure and she was insistent that she would not want a stranger touching her feet. But she humoured me anyhow and had it done. Now she's hooked. She loved it, as I knew she would.

After her appointment she took me out to Wendy's for lunch. That was a really nice treat.

She then joined two of her greatest friends, Nancy and Amanda, at the hairdresser's for their updo's. A guy friend had made the girls a cd of their favourite tunes to play while they were getting their hair done. So much fun!!

Afterwards, they went to Amanda's home to get dressed. Amanda's parents, Shari & Kevin, had our family and Nancy's family over to join in on all the fun. We had some eats and Sarah's boss from Starbucks came and took pictures of the girls. Shari has a gorgeous outdoor living space in her backyard, which made for wonderful pictures.

The above picture is of Sarah and her Daddy. I love how they are laughing. We were all having so much fun. Prom night at Kevin & Shari's home was a celebration for the parents as much as it was for our daughters.

I love the fact that the girls went to the prom without dates. Just another sign proving what a great job you did raising your kids. They aren't so concerned about following the pack, but rather find ways that make them special or unique. You are very fortunate to have such a close and loving relationship with Sarah. I still can't believe that Mark actually let her go out looking so beautiful!

It all sounds like a wonderful time, with the exception of the $30 ticket. LOL

And, you two did very well with your shopping...what a beautiful gown!

You know what I love....and am learning from?
When I grew up in church we were very much taught to protect ourselves by avoiding things like prom. I love watching you all teach your kids to have a blast, enjoy the good, be handsome and beautiful for themselves....and not take the whole dating/peer pressure thing too seriously.

Great job...remind me of all of this when my girls are heading off to proms....I have enough trouble watching the attention of other girls for my son!....Help me Jesus!

Our girls are growing up too fast! thanks for having the girls overnight and Thanks Mark for waiting up for them.

The three girls look so amazing together...you'd almost think that the colors were planned ahead for their photos. I keep forgetting to thank Sarah for booking Christine to do the pics - pass my thanks onto her!
