Happy 18th Birthday Sarah!

Sarah Jean was born 18 years ago today. She was born on a Sunday evening on Labour Day weekend. Our first born child. We didn't name her until the day after she was born. The names that we had picked did not seem to fit. My husband, her Daddy, referred to her as 'Princess'.

During 'day two' in the hospital a friend, who was best man in our wedding, visited us. He looked at our baby and said that she looks like a 'Sarah'. Mark and I instantly agreed. We looked up Sarah in our baby name book and when we read that Sarah meant Princess we knew that our baby had a name.

Her middle name came from me. My middle name is Jean. This was Mark's decision. I'm sure after seeing his wife of one year deliver a baby for the first time, he wanted to honour her in any way that he could.

God annointed, appointed and commissioned Mark and I, as her parents, to protect her, to provide for her physically , emotionally and spiritually.

Today we honour our daughter. She truly is a Princess. She is a Royal Daughter of the Most High King. We bless her as she enters this next stage of her life.

Sarah enjoyed her 'birthday weekend' celebrating with family and friends. On Sunday evening she shared a cake with my mom who celebrated her birthday on Saturday.

On Sunday night she had one of her very best friends (since grade two!!) Amanda overnight and enjoyed the day with her on Monday. On Monday evening we went to her favourite restaurant for dinner along with lots of her girlfriends. Afterwards we had cake, gifts and a special time of blessing and praying over her at home. We so appreciated our wonderful friends, Pastor Kevin & Shari, Barry & Tammy and Mark & Jen who joined us in honouring her tonight with prayer and blessing.

When is this girl going to learn that she just has to stop growing up! But on a more serious note, she is turning into such a wonderful lady who knows who she is and to whom she belongs.
