Sarah/Mommy Time

My daughter Sarah is leaving in two weeks and will be gone for the summer. You can read about it here.

The two of us have always spent a lot of time together. This will be our longest period of time apart since she was born. And soon her far-away-location will be a reality.

Don't get me wrong. I am very excited for her. I know that she will be in a great place and having opportunity-of-a-lifetime experiences. But, I will still miss her.

My darling daughter showed up at my work yesterday with a special treat for me. A Starbucks Passion Tea Lemonade.
My daughter is very thoughtful and sweet. The very same day, when I got home, she had a bouquet of flowers waiting for me along with a card.

Today she picked me up at work so that we could do lunch together. I appreciate my daughter and the young woman that she is. She is one of my favourite people to be with.

Whenever Sarah is feeling that we have not been spending enough time together, she always lets me know that we need more Sarah/Mommy time.

How sweet. I'm sure it will be hard with her gone but I know the reunion will be twice as sweet.

I love hearing about the things that you do for and with your kids, especially your girls. Kind of gives me a glimpse into what life will be like for me a few years down the road.

One of my most fervent prayers is that my children will want to be with me when they are older and don't need me like they do now. You are so blessed to have a daughter who is also now your friend.

Your kids are great because you are a great mom! My heart soared at Youth tonight during the game time. "Of the things you do for your kid, what do they like best?" Jonathan (in front of all his friends!!) says, "hugs and kisses!"
Your relationship with your kids is rare. I know you've worked hard to achieve that! You are a wonderful example to those of us who are just a tiny, itsy, bitsy, itty bit younger than you!

Such precious memories for you to enjoy while Sarah is "taking flight lessons"....though, I am sure these are the very things that will cause you to miss her all the more.

At least she is spreading her wings in a wonderful place and I know I am not Sarah, but i am very open to Starbucks and Passion Tea Lemonade visits this summer!!!!

How do you keep dry eyes? That is so sweet it is making me tear up! This is the curse of motherhood: as much as you want them to go and experience life, you want them to be with you as well. A woman's heart is never the same again after she becomes a mom.....

Have a good weekend and a Happy Mother's Day!

Love,
Kelley

What a sweet sweet daughte Sarah is. You've done a wonderful job Mamma.

I'll be praying for you..the first time our daughter left home...she was gone for 6 months....and for 3 of the months..we didn't have contact with her...other than 2 times.

It's tough when they spread their wings...but it sounds like...she's ready.

Happy Mother's Day.

Kim~

That was a wonderful glimpse into your relationship with Sarah. And I think it also speaks volumes of the kind of mother you are.
I hope my daughters and I will have that kind of relationship when they are older.
