I mentioned in an earlier post that my husband is in Africa on a missions trip and that I wasn't looking forward to him being gone.
This is not the first time that my husband has been away from home. Usually, we respond to his absence with lots of fun distractions. But this time it's been very different. I can't explain why. But, I can say that it is getting better, as the week goes on.
The first morning after Mark left, Sarah called me at work to say that her car would not start. She was getting ready to drive her younger sister to school. Sarah and I were both a little frustrated that this had to happen the very day after her dad left. I knew I that couldn't leave my work and that Brittany needed to get to school.
Sarah called our friends Mark & Jen and they came right away to her aid. They drove Brittany to school and ensured that Sarah and her car were fine.
Jen works at the school where I work. Her work day starts a little bit later than mine does. When she came to work later that morning she brought me a treat. She brought me a big bag of M&M peanuts. She knows that I really like them. What a wonderfully thoughtful gesture and at exactly the right time.
The next day, Jen, along with her two daughters, took me and Brittany shopping for the day. Shopping is something that I highly enjoy. We had a very successful trip, finding a very cute grad dress for Brittany, a stop at Lululemon for the girls and a yummy lunch at LoneStar. We arrived back home quite late and physically spent.
Thanks Jen for your kind efforts and your thoughtfulness!!! I very much appreciated it.

"True friends are like diamonds, precious but rare." That's JEN! :)
OK, between your post and Holly's comment....I am somewhat overwhelmed.
Thank You so much for your friendship Rhonda, I really enjoyed our shopping trip....and am trying to think of how soon we might be able to do a repeat...only, one for US this time ; )
It's the little things that make such a huge difference. Like how our friends don't just know we like chocolate, but what kind. And how they don't just know that we love to shop, but exactly where to take us.
